Here are my thoughts:

We just got a brand new, super expensive mattress at the end of last year. And because we have children, including a small baby that likes to spit up constantly, we have been really worried about them staining or ruining our bed. I got this so we could help protect our mattress from any spills or accidents without have a loud crinkly, uncomfortable plastic cover. This really does the trick too. We have a king sized bed and we ordered the king sized cover. It easily fit deep onto our mattress with room to spare. When I ordered it the company sent me an email letting me know that this cover tends to make sleeping hotter because it doesn't breathe so well and really traps the body heat.
